'Hardy's' was formed in 2009 to provide sales and management advice together with a range of consultancy services to others.

 

Since 2017 the firm has specialised in Valuation, Strategic Property Advice and Environmental Research .

  
David Chalstrey is the principal of Hardy Rural Solutions and is a Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer. David has a diverse property background with over 30 years in London, the West Country and the Home Counties together with a spell as Knight Frank’s representative for the Caribbean. David has also managed offices for Lane Fox (now Strutt and Parker), Jackson Stops and Greenslade Taylor Hunt. 

 

David is a graduate of The College of Estate Management, Reading (Valuation and Building Surveying), The Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester, (Rural Estate Management with merit). During the MSc course David received the 'Central Association of Agricultural Valuers Top Student Prize' and subsequently returned as a visiting lecturer on valuation-related topics.

 

Whilst at the RAU David wrote a dissertation on Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services Assessment and its practical application for Rural Practitioners and Valuers, and more recently completed a course on 'Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies' at the Cambridge University Judge Business School.

David has an ever growing passion and understanding of environmental issues in particular advising on ESG strategy for agricultural and rural real estate portfolios and is currently studying for a PhD researching the relationship between financing land and property and sustainability for impactful and responsible lending.
